Propylene Glycol (PG) is odourless and without any tastes, it will carry your flavour concentrate’s taste and create throat hit, add more PG to get more throat hit.
Our propylene Glycol USP is one of the purest in Australia with a specified purity greater than 99.9% it is also pharmaceutical-grade.
PG is used in a variety of other applications such as anti-freeze, cosmetics, food manufacturing processing systems, VAC applications, laser cutting, milk & wine production equipment.
Studies have shown that PG is safe to ingest orally, and the FDA has deemed it generally recognized as safe to be used as a food additive, but unfortunately, there are not enough researches on inhaling PG, so if you use it for that purpose, the risk would be on yours.
Vegetable Glycerine USP (VG) (Food Grade):
Vegetable Glycerine (VG) is a natural substance that is taken from vegetable oil. Because of this, it’s considered to be a natural chemical. VG tastes sweet and creates a cloud, it is also thicker than PG. Vegetable Glycerine provides a much smoother throat hit than Propylene Glycol, add more VG to create more clouds.

VG conforms to USP and FDA specifications and can be used in:
food, beverage, and medical applications and also suitable for use in Herbal remedies, Shampoos, Soaps, Pharmaceuticals, Toothpaste, and other household items
The FDA has classified VG as generally recognized as safe and it is widely regarded as one of the most benign substances known to man. But same as PG, there are not enough studies about the safety of inhaling PG, so if you use it for that purpose, the risk would be on yours.
Both propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine are considered extremely safe and non-toxic and are commonly used in food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
What VG/PG ratio should I use?
Please note, there is no correct or wrong answer to this question, as different people have different tastes and preferences! We strongly advise you to buy your VG and PG separately and work it out which percentages would suit your needs more, also as flavour concentrates are PG based, then by buying your PG and VG separately, taking care of your ratios would be much easier.
1. Classic View.
At the beginnings of vaping, most the e-juice manufacturers were adding more PG to their juices as more PG will create more throat hits, this fact was more attractive for new vapers, so if you just did quit smoking, then adding more propylene Glycol would be a good idea, ratios with 60% or 70% of PG and 40% or 30% VG should be a better option, but please note as PG is less thick as VG, it might make your leakage worse!
2. Cloud chasers.
Recently people are tending to add more VG into their e-juice, to make their e-liquid cloudy, smother and avoid harsh throat hits, if you are one of them, go for higher Vegetable Glycerine, ratios with 70% Vg and 30% PG, but keep in mind, diluting your flavours in it will need a bit more shaking or further another day of steeping.
There is a moderate solution too, a 50-50 or VG 60% and PG 40% which is more common, carry enough flavours, less leaking problems and it does create decent clouds too.
So finally if you are a cloud chaser go for more VG.
If you are new to vaping and would prefer throat hit similar to smoking cigarettes, ratios with more PG would be a better option for you, but we do suggest buying them separately and find your preferred percentage over time.
